The Hydro is under new ownership. The new owner has invested very heavily in the refurbishing of the hotel both inside and out. The once-tired hotel, which benefited purely from its excellent location, now has rooms and facilities of a very good standard. The hotel now also benefits from the recent addition of a swimming pool and a gymnasium. (GW 10/2008)
This hotel is located in a quiet side street 1 minutes walk from the main street and about 5-10 minutes walk to the Lake. It is also one mile from the railway station. It benefits from a hillside location with good views of the Lake.
It is a traditional Victorian hotel dating from 1876 and looks very quaint set in the hillside.
LobbyThe lobby area is fairly large and the public areas are spacious and grand in keeping with the original features of the hotel. There is a small sitting room adjacent to the lobby with a crackling log fire during the winter months.
