Located at Khader Nawaz Khan Road, by day, its discrete location set back from the road, and the curvaceous leafy branches that embrace the building, immediately gives the feeling of an organic oasis. The glass facade and ceiling allow dappled light to flood into its public spaces, giving much of the building a sense of transparency. At night, there is a different, more mysterious feel: the walkway to the hotel's reception area is illuminated with the warm glow of lit oversized red planters. Besides the funky Absolute Bar, the restaurant, Italia, is the beating heart of the hotel, a buzzing eatery and bar popular with trendsetting locals. And in the courtyard the shadows of giant trees twist over a lap pool of bright red mosaic tiles as a DJ spins dance tunes. At The Park Pod, Chennai it's always a little unclear where the borders to the inside and outside begin and end.
